Busy Weekend

Happy Halloween! What a crazy busy weekend it was. I didn't do a Friday's Favorites because Friday was crazy hectic with breakfast with friends, working on a fashion collaboration, then rushing back for Halloween fun at my kids' school. Saturday we did trick or treating in downtown Clawson (so much fun) then downtown Ferndale (awesome). I also got some sewing done this weekend and made 5 new scarves by cutting up some really nice cashmere and merino wool sweaters. It was so hard to cut up the one from Bergdorfs! The scarves came out really great and have a luxe to them that I am very happy with. They will be available at Paint Creek Art Center's Holiday Market.Mario and Athena.
Clawson used the cut outs I painted last summer as decorations!

This is a new print that is available in my etsy shop. I took it in NYC. You can get to it by clicking here.

This is a photo I took at a skate park in Birmingham while shooting Ryan's senior pics. I don't have the nerve to skateboard there but maybe by next summer I'll be good enough to try it out...I hope anyway!

One of the scarves I made. It's cream cashmere with soft ribbed merino wool in brown.

Fashion collaboration with Rose and Alvita

My friend Rose (from Invisible Twin) came up with a photo idea she'd like to do with both of us dressed up sort of gothy and like creepy dolls. Our friend, Alvita is a talented stylist with an amazing closet full of vintage treasures as well as one of a kind pieces and high end fashion pieces. Friday we went to her home and she dressed us in these amazing outfits. We are planning on doing our shoot in a warehouse but are working out the details. These photos are just some we snapped in Alvita's house. The dress I am wearing is silk and vintage and has all these gorgeous ruffles. The belt works perfectly and I'm wearing a necklace I designed.

Rose is wearing a beautiful chiffon dress with white fishnet stockings and cream mary janes. The gloves match the mary janes perfectly. When we do hair and makeup I think we will contrast perfectly. We vision her hair huge and with my short spiky hair it's going to be sweet as hell.

Alvita is going to use the photos in her portfolio and she wants to style us in a few other outfits as well. She found a Theory black pencil skirt and it fit me like a glove. She put it with a fishnet tank top and layered an 80's style punky bustier over it. Then she put a thick and heavy silver necklace that wrapped around a few times on me and hooked it around one of the straps of the bustier. Genius! It offset it and was perfect for the look. I am so excited for this shoot! Hopefully we can get the warehouse figured out and do it soon.

Do You Know What's The Scariest Part Of Halloween?

No, it's not my Son dressed up as a Rob Zombie Movie Character... it's not Cadavers... not living in an allegedly old Haunted House that some locals fear, especially this time of year... it's not Ghosts or even gruesome hanging latex heads that strikes fear into my Heart... its the thought of overly tired Wee People who are so wired for Halloween that they won't go down for a nap! *Arghhhh, now THAT'S scary my Friends and the only thing that I'm truly AFRAID of!!!*  Yes, despite those Angelic looking faces they can be the true Monsters of Halloween at this ole House and make you want to escape and run for your lives as you feel as though you're hanging from a very short rope of Sanity!  *Smiles*  The excitement, anticipation, stimulation and anxieties of Holidays can often intensify behavioral issues as they go into Too Much Fun Overload and go completely haywire... like a scene from a Horror Movie they can transform from apparently harmless little creatures into something quite vicious and fierce that you barely recognize and strikes fear into the Hearts and Souls of ALL MEN (and MOST Women *wink*) .. and if naps aren't taken and they refuse to go down... we should be scared... VERY scared *LOL*... Dawn... The Bohemian

Happy Halloween & Have A Spooktacular Evening

We stand ready... all of us here at the Spooky old Homestead... as Halloween Eve quickly approaches... did we wait until then to break out into costume a mere one time... or a mere one costume?  No way!!!  Did we wait to Party just on the Eve of All Hallows Eve and indulge?  No way!!!  We build up to this Night with eager anticipation, with Parties, Crawls, decorating, dressing up in an array of fun garb, and guilty indulgences that will keep us on a sugar high well into the next Holiday Season.  We call upon fellow Gypsies and Bohemians to join us in the celebrations... if you're in for a good time, join us... and for the rest... we'll get you my Pretties! *He He He* And even if you are inclined to wait for the big Night... Happy Halloween from all of us and have a Spooktacular Evening... Dawn... The Bohemian

Velvet Pumpkins And Rosette Bling

This Holiday Season my fav decor and accessory has definitely been the Velvet Pumpkins and blinged out Rosettes.   Carol over at "Cottage Garden I and II" had a collection of both that I'd been lusting after and I finally rounded out my Seasonal purchases ending up with two sets of Quads... in Velvet Pumpkins and Rosettes.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them and spent the rest of the afternoon playing with arranging them into Holiday vignettes and tricking out the Velvet Pumpkins with their own Bohemian bling.  I'm such a big kid when I acquire new goodies, aren't you?  I can't wait to get Home and play with them and personalize each piece... yeah, I hardly ever leave things "As Is", I've almost always got to put my own touch and spin on what I buy, I just can't resist... for me more is hardly ever enough! *Smiles*  I know the Rosettes will soon be adorning Bags, Clothing, Lampshades and Hair... but they look rather nice tucked into Autumn decor as well... so versatile and fun.  Rosette making will be yet another Art Project the Grandkids and I plan to do in order to use every scrap of Vintage Lace, Fabric and Trim left over from my other Art... and naturally we'll utilize Gramma's vast collection of Bohemian Bling to give them that touch of elegant Gypsy Chic pizzaz we adore.  And the Velvet Pumpkin Patch, well, that looks so elemental in my style of decorating that they will probably remain on display all year, being dressed up and adorned with a variety of Bohemian Jewels... just like Me...
