Disney Piglet week 2: flowers

My second Piglet creation, this time Piglet with flowers.
As a base I'm wearing Golden Rose Holographic 118. Self made water decals of Piglet picking flowers. I stamped flowers with Konad SN dark red, violet pearl, pastel blue, yellow and imageplate M3. On my thumb a little fimo flower with a happy face :)

The Scavenger Hunt

I'm a full blown Scavenger by nature, I LOVE the thrill of the Hunt... and I've been known to go through great lengths to discover Hidden Treasures in obscure places.  I'm not too proud that I would pass up curbside Treasure and I'll wade through piles of junk at Tag Sales, Thrift Stores, Estate Sales, Flea Markets, tiny Shops and the like to uncover Junque Gold!  The difference between junk and Junque is all a matter of perspective of coarse, as one man's trash can be another man's Treasure.  It's a rush for me and I enjoy the challenge of having "The Scavenger Hunt".  I almost never come up empty handed... even though some days I'm not buying, I still enjoy the Hunting aspect of it and the Discovery.  Often the exhileration is just from looking at something that catches my eye or my fancy... I don't have to necessarily have it to enjoy it and be thrilled by it.   Case in point is Hats... I love Vintage Hats, but I'm not a Hat Person, only because I don't carry it off so well as the avid Hat Person does... though I wish I could.  I'll plop a cool Hat on my head just to make sure it doesn't look amazing on me... alas, usually it does NOT! *smiles*  My Bohemian Mom is a Hat person, she can look fabulous in ANY Hat and wear it with complete confidence and style... like a Carmen Miranda *LOVED her Style*... some folks just have that flair and will not look ridiculous in even the most theatrical of Hats!  I'll let you in on a 'lil Secret, if you promise not to tell anyone *shush, wink*... I'd LOVE to look amazing in Men's Hats... especially Fedoras... a Raquel Welch can look amazing in one... but then a Raquel Welch can look amazing in
 ANYTHING! *Smiles*

So you might be wondering... what DID I come away with on the Scavenger Hunt on the day of the above photos?  The Belgian Velvets *naturally*... the cute 'lil European Metallic fabric Bohemian style Bag... and the amazing ornate Antique Brass Doorknob... and ALL for under $35!  Yes... having that Scavenger Gene has been a Blessing in disguise... because those of us who enjoy the process of Scavenging... well, we find some pretty good stuff don't we... even those of us who didn't get the "Looks Good in Hats" Gene!  *wink*  ... A Gentle Reminder: The Reason For The Season

JESUS!

And though there's alot of great stuff out there that we'd like to have or can be a distraction... let us not forget the REAL Reason for the Season... JESUS!

It is with a heavy Heart that I've watched the News the past few days since the madness of "Black Friday"... people trampled and shoved out of the way, shoppers fighting with each other over Christmas bargains... folks forgetting to show God's Love towards one another in this most Holy of Seasons!  I am a Seasonal Bell Ringer for the Salvation Army, I spend the entire day standing in front of some of the busiest stores and I've witnessed folks cursing each other out over a mere parking space, so harried and hurried that they forget to be polite and show the most basic of civilities... it grieves my Spirit and I'm certain it grieves the Lord's.  I think it matters not to the Lord if we manage to score that big screen TV at a rock bottom price... it simply isn't the Reason for the Season.  He sent His Son to this World at Christmas over 2000 years ago out of Love for Mankind, the ultimate Sacrifice to reconcile us to Himself and show us how much we ALL mean to Him... regardless of who we are or how far we have yet to come in our individual Faith walk and Spirituality.  He wants Relationship with each of us... and He instructs us through His Word to Love our Neighbors as ourselves... and who is our Neighbor?  Well, it's YOU... and YOU... and YOU... and ME... yes, it's ALL of us, every single Person on the face of this Earth... the lovely and the unlovely alike!  And though there is lots of great stuff out there that catches our eye and we would like to have this Christmas or would like to buy for our Loved ones... this is just a gentle reminder not to let the stuff so distract us that we forget to show God's Love to all of the Beloved we come into contact with each day... especially this Holiday Season... to Honor Jesus Christ properly and through us show Him to others by our Love and by being His Hands and Feet on this side of time and eternity... Blessings and Love to you all... Dawn... The Bohemian

It's only forgetting yourself that you draw near to God. -- Henry David Thoreau

And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: -- Thessalonians 3:12

These things I command you, that ye love one another. -- John 15:17

For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself -- Galatians 5:14

Fox 2 Commercial

I had an exciting day today- I am starring in a commercial for Fox 2 News' Weather Authority! It'll be a 30 second spot about how I depend on their weather reports to do my job shooting virtual tours for real estate. Here is one of their past commercials with a bicyclist. It should start airing next week (and of course I'll post it here once it's done). The day started with awesome makeup and nails done by Rouge. I felt so pampered! And the fabulous Alvita Lozano-Frankie styled me. I'm so lucky to have such talented and wonderful friends!
Me shooting him, shooting me, shooting him.

Taking a shot of me coming out of the kitchen, through the foyer, and down the stairs to the family room. So glad I didn't trip in my stilettos! Lol.

Not intimidating at. Nope, not at all. Actually they were so nice and I wasn't nervous at all. I had a great time joking around with them too! They couldn't have been nicer.
Thanks Fox 2- you guys rock!

Not Your Ordinary Family Portrait

I recently got to do one of the most fun family portraits I've ever done! They wanted an editorial and quirky one with props...I'd say we nailed it!
We even got their beer drinking cat!

Disney Piglet week 1: winter

I still have my Winter Wonderland creation on my nails, and now it is snowing outside :) Ofcourse I have to post something new so I decided to show some older creation that I made. I'm a Disney fan and I really like Piglet so I often made Piglet nails, this week I'll show you them.

First Piglet's Winter, I made this in the winter of 2009.
As a base I'm wearing OPI Suzy and the lifeguard. I used self made water decals of Piglet. Stamped with Konad SN white and SN pink imageplate M11 and M59. On my ringfinger 2 rhinestones.

A photo with one of mine cute Piglet stuffed animals :)

Later this week I'll show you Piglet with flowers and Piglet with love (Valentines day)
