How To Make a Top Out of Vintage Silk Scarves

How to make a cute and simple top out of two silk vintage scarves
I've been collecting these gorgeous vintage scarves for a while now and really didn't know what to do with the square ones. They are too small to wear around your neck and unless you are going to tie them together and pull them out of your sleeve like a clown they are pretty much useless.  But I decided to experiment and sew two together to make a cute boho chic top.
 Ironing.
I have all of my grandmother's vintage thread in just about every color too.
Next put the scarves together and pin where the shoulders will be and along the sides. Don't worry if they don't quite match up. Just match them from the outer edges. In fact it's better if one is slightly larger because it will fit better.  You know, boobies.

Here is my nifty little diagram on where to sew. Isn't it nifty?
And here is the finished product. These two scarves are such high quality silk that they look amazing as they ripple and move.
 It could be reversible too.

Some R&R Helps Relieve Record Breaking Heatwave

We're having a record heatwave of a Month's worth of consecutive days of temperatures exceeding 110 degrees *whew*... and most being around 115-117 degrees *insert feeling of spontaneous combustion, LOL*... and so I needed some R&R to help take my mind off the heat.

R&R meaning RUST AND ROSES  as well as rest and recuperation! *Winks*  Sweet Minnie looked as fresh as a Daisy as usual, in spite of brutal temps outside... isn't she adorable!?

And look at the amazing Altered Art Rosary she had created... I'm trying to talk her into making some for the Shop, Rosary wearing & Collecting fanatic that I am! *Smiles*

I took Home a couple of these lovely orphaned Antique shakers... I like to put my straight pins I use for Sewing in the little holes.

ADDED NOTE: A Sweet Blog Friend suggested that these might just be Hat Pin Holders and not Shakers... and the more I look at them the more I think they probably are just that... so now my usage of them doesn't seem so odd... at least they're holding Pins of some sort again! *LOL*

I'm loving the Vintage Industrial & Commercial items the Shop Gals had stocked up on...

And the Vignettes in the Shop never cease to Inspire...

My Friend Pauline's Space looked amazing and she was still bringing in more fab pieces to foof the Booth...

Her Handsome DH, Victor, was hard at work hanging Lovelies clear to the rafters...

She had decided to part with this AMAZING Gothic Chair! *swooning*

Alas, Chair Fiend that I am there is absolutely no more room at this Old House for yet another fabulous Vintage Chair... but if there were... I'd be all over this one, aged to perfection & fabulously Ornate! *Winks*

I'm adoring the huge Paper, Burlap & Lace Flowers Shelly had made and draped with old film...

Yes, visiting a favorite Shop and visiting Good Friends there was just the R&R I needed to help relieve a record breaking heatwave...

And my tiny Treasures were a great score... yep, that's the pair I chose...

Stay Cool my Friends...

'Cause it's Hot enough to Roast a Chicken on the sidewalk!!! *LOL*

But I'd like to think this Lil Fella died of more natural causes?! *Smiles*

Chakra 4 Herb & Tea House

One of my favorite places to get fresh Tea and Herbs is CHAKRA 4 HERB & TEA HOUSE in East Phoenix.

They also have a Restaurant and Tea House serving 100% Organic Vegetarian Delights...

And sinfully delicious Desserts... I LOVE the fresh Locally made Biscotti!!!

And just about any fresh hot or cold Tea you could possibly imagine!

The Artisan Soup creations are AMAZING and come with locally made Fresh Breads!  This day I had  French Onion & Mushroom Soup and Curried Carrot Soup... I just couldn't decide... so had a cup of each! *winks*  The Fresh Bread had Berries & Walnuts baked in... yum!!! Their Watermelon Gazpacho Soup is one of my favorites.

The Dining Area is a tranquil setting... with lovely Mendhi Designs painted on the Tables...

And Walls...

Soothing Zen Music is playing... and the fragrance of the many Herbs in the Shop give a delightful aroma to the atmosphere...

And if you don't want to sit on a chair or stool, there are stacks of plump Bohemian pillows scattered about for lounging...

It is a unique Specialty Store with Friendly knowledgeable Staff...

And anytime I'm on the East Side I have to stop by...

To stock up on my Herbs & Teas... and have a Delightful Meal that nourished the Body & Soul...

It's in an older Mall that I've always enjoyed... visiting since the 70's...

With Vintage Brick pathways, Fountains & mature Trees...

It has an ambiance you just don't get in the Mega Malls...

I especially enjoy a soothing cup of Tea as the Sun sets in a blaze of Glorified Colors each Evening...

And when I bring Home the Tea Samplers the G-Kids help me to rate them with an assortment of Smiley Face Art for their favs *Winks*...  As  you can see MOST are favored in this household!!!

The G-Kids enjoy the Names of the Teas as much as picking out a different one each to savor each day! *LOL*

And we all enjoy how we'll decorate the table for our Tea Parties...

And picking out which Teacups we'll use... or maybe we'll use several mismatched pieces... in a variety of delicate China, sturdy Vintage Diner Ware and sweet Demitasse!?!

And which Vignette... shall we go with a rich, warm Autumn Vibe???

Or a bold, fresh Summery one???

Or perhaps a Romantic Pastel Spring Vibe???

Or a frosty, fun Wintery Wonderland???

Because who doesn't enjoy brewing a fresh assortment of Organic loose Teas for a Mad Hatter Tea Party regardless of the Season!?!

And the super talented Jill Harris of GYPSY BROCANTE will be teaching a Jewelry Class this Fall, October 7th, at Anne-Marie's Na-Da Farm Event... so any of you lucky enough to attend, be sure to sign up... Jill's creations are to die for fabulous... I'm going to be so envious of the peeps that get to be mentored by her at this Class!
