Jewelry Made From Vintage Typewriter Keys

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I bought a big bag of typewriter pieces a few weeks ago from a fellow jewelry designer and I'd been itching to cut the keys off but with sparks flying from my dremel I had to wait for a decent day to do it outside. Youtique: Call for Vendors

<div style="text-align: center;">Hey artists and crafters, <a href="http://www.youtique-detroit.com/call-for-vendors.html">Youtique:Spring Into Handmade</a> is calling for you! So get those apps in because this is going to be a great show in downtown Royal Oak!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><br />Call for Vendors<br />Youtique-Spring Into Handmade has been scheduled for April 16th, 2011.<br /><br />The Call for Vendors is currently open!<br /><br />Important Dates<br />   - Vendor applications will be accepted until March 19th<br />   - Vendors will be notified of acceptance on or before March 25th<br />   - Booth fee is due via check or online payment on April 1st<br /><br />Event Information<br />   - The Booth Fee is $30.00 for Michigan Artisans Members and $40.00 for Non-members, this fee covers the use of the space, appetizers, printing materials and the production of the show.<br />   - All vendors will be juried before the event<br /> - Only handmade items will be accepted. This includes any artwork, photography, and products made by the artist. We ask that nothing mass produced is submitted for the show- we will not accept vendors with items that are purchased in bulk and not created by the vendor.<br />  - Vendors will be assigned a booth space for the show after acceptance. Booth spaces are a set square foot number, and the Vendor will be required to bring their own table covers and display, tables may be provided by the venue.. All items must stay within your booth space.  When you apply, items such as power, lighting etc will be discussed- please address these when you apply. Once a booth space is assigned, it will not be changed.<br />   - Late entries will not be accepted. This is out of fairness for all vendors.<br /> - Youtique Vendors are asked to treat all other vendors and volunteers with respect.<br /><br />Youtique is a great event for networking and suppose to be fun for everyone involved. Weekend Roundup

<div align="center">I had a crazy fun weekend with a different show on each day. Saturday started with Noel Night in Detroit and<strong> <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error"><span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error">Youtique</span></span>: A Handmade Holiday</strong>. It was held inside Old Main, a beautiful historic building on the campus of Wayne State University. We had a great crowd and I saw an old friend that I haven't seen in a long time too (thanks for coming Karen!). It was so rewarding to have people come to my booth and recognize me from other shows or from seeing my stuff in stores and online! I met a lot of nice people, bought some rad Christmas presents, and sold some stuff too. The derby girls were there selling some of their own crafts and couldn't have been nicer! I had one customer tell me I look like a derby girl and that I'm scrappy looking <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_3" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">enough</span> to do it too. It cracked me up. Yep, I bought a bunch.<br /><br /><br /><span style="font-size:180%;"><strong>Then there was Monday</strong>...</span></div><div>The plan was to relax and catch up on custom orders but instead my house caught on fire! We are so lucky I was at home or we would not have a home anymore. I was sitting on the couch on the laptop when I heard popping coming from the bathroom then the laptop beeped like it does when you unplug it. I walked into the bathroom and saw flames up in the ceiling fan. I ran downstairs and grabbed the extinguisher and put the fire out the best that I could then called 911. They came really fast and said that I saved the house. They had to soak the insulation in the attic in water to be sure it was out and wow was it a mess. The living room, bathroom, and my daughter's room were covered in yellow dust from the extinguisher and it took all day long to clean it up. And let me just say that it smells and tastes horrible! I have always wanted to go to the MDC but never got a chance. It is the coolest place!  I really hope you can stop by the Youtique tomorrow or Friday because it is going to be really nice.  There will be hors d'oeuvres catered by Splendid Plates too.  I made some new mother's day word necklaces as well as new sterling silver metal pieces (I finally worked up the guts to cut my beautiful piece of silver!) and will have my metallic photographs for sale.</p>
