Filming with George Clooney

This past week has been so surreal! It started with George Clooney's movie, The Ides of March, shooting in my hometown of Clawson, MI. I really wanted to be a part of it so I applied as an extra and got called for a funeral scene. Then I got interviewed: <a href="http://clawson.patch.com/articles/clawson-resident-plays-extra-in-george-clooney-film">Patch.com </a> and then I got called for scenes in Detroit. I am loving it of course. When George Clooney looks right at you, smiles, and says, "Have a good night" or being paid to sit in your car while Ryan Gosling walks back and forth in front of you, um yeah...kinda cool. It was a weird feeling to have paparazzi show up on set and take photos too. Ides of March: George Clooney in Clawson, MI

Our little city of Clawson, Mi had some big excitement and taste of Hollywood on Friday when George Clooney's movie, The Ides of March filmed here. Residents were woken up at 6:30am with helicopters circling overhead. Soon the local church parking lot filled with semi's and trailers and huge booms were set up. A building that houses doctor's offices (my daughter's orthodontist's actually) had a fresh sign put in front that read "Oakley Women's Clinic of Cincinnati" and the local diner got a new "Nick's Country Oven" sign put up.<div><br /></div><div>The movie stars George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Marisa Tomei, Even Rachel Wood, Paul Giamatti, Philip Seymore Hoffman, and of course, George Clooney. Clooney is also directing. The synopsis on imdb is "An idealistic staffer for a newbie presidential candidate gets a crash course on dirty politics during his stint on the campaign trail. Based on the play by Beau Willimon." Politics, drama, an abortion...it has oscar written all over it! All the moms gushing about George, obnoxious dudes on their cell phones talking when we were asked to be quiet, and a very rude lady who said in a nasally voice, "Well, the least he could do is stop and wave at us!"
