Because the Beautiful Poinsettia is indigenous to Mexico and Central America it does quite well here in the Arizona Desert region and really shows out in our climate. Such a vivid richly colored plant, I always look forward to the outstanding Poinsettia Christmas displays where massive groupings of them showcase the stunning Beauty of the plants. They come in a wide variety of colors and each year we've chosen a different colored plant and then seen how long ours will last... a few have lasted for more than a year in fact.
And another favorite Winter flowering plant that does quite well here in the Desert and shows out at Christmastime are the Lovely Christmas Cactus. They also have vivid, rich, bright blooms of various colors that almost look surreal in their waxy splendor. They make great hanging basket plants and I've had very good luck with growing them also well beyond the Holiday Season.
What favorite plants do you look forward to growing at Christmastime my Friends? Have you been fortunate enough that they thrive in your climate, or have you had to coddle them to get them to last through the Holidays? *Winks*
