On this 19th Vintage Inspiration Friday Hosted by Debra at Common Ground I wanted to share what I am MOST inspired by, above all else... and hands down it would have to be Vintage Fabrics. My love and appreciation of Vintage Fabrics borders on an obsession and the inspiration it provides knows no limits, I simply can't get enough of them. It doesn't matter the size or condition. I've fallen in love with a tattered swatch and had it end up the focal point and anchor of a creation or vignette. I've fallen in love with unfinished needlepoints and delicate antique fabrics that are literally falling apart! It would be difficult for me to choose a favorite Vintage fabric since each has its special merits and distinct beauty... Velvet, Brocade, Lace, Needlepoint, Tapestry, Silk, Satin, Metallic Trim, Burlap, Ticking Fabric, Suede, Beaded Fabric, Tie Dyed Fabric, delicate Gossamer Fabrics, Linen... truly the list of my Vintage Fabric loves is extensive! Whether a print, patterned or a solid color there is such variety that your imagination can soar... and the Colors... whatever spectrum of the Rainbow you can think of there is ultimately a shade of that in some kind of Fabric! I thought about what I couldn't live without in my Home and it would have to be the rich variety of Vintage Fabrics that envelope me like a cocoon, serve so many purposes and can be made into so many creations for the Artist. I make it a point to keep Vintage Fabrics, finished creations of mine and collections of Fabric Art from other Artists, where I create my Art, at all times. They are often a catalyst for new ideas, new creations and a positive energy and vibe. You can spend a fortune or a pittance... Vintage Fabrics and Fabric Art can be found at just about any price... including the freebies that others placed no value upon at all and I find absolutely priceless and special! Yes, Vintage Fabric inspires me every day because I surround myself with it, I wear it, collect it, use it, I create from it and admire the pieces that aren't mine but can still provide inspiration... it carries me away to places in my imagination like nothing else can...
