I'm happy to be a part of such a positive event again this year! And it's not just for women either. There will be music, laughter, art, crafts, and drinks!
SATURDAY FEBRUARY 12
doors at 6pm
tickets: $10

WOMEN! Starring MARIA BAMFORD is more than a night of comedy, music, and fun. It's a part of a continual effort to highlight the talent of female creativity in the Detroit area and beyond. It's a opportunity for all of us to talk about ways to make society more equitable for all us in a fun, open atmosphere.

We are honored and delighted to have headlining the event the one and only, MARIA BAMFORD.

Maria Bamford is an American stand-up comedian and voice actor. She is best known for her portrayal of her dysfunctional family and self-deprecating comedy involving jokes about depression. Her comedy style draws upon surrealism and incorporates voice impressions that good-naturedly mock various character types.

You may recognize Maria's voice from popular television shows such as Dharma and Greg, Daria, Cat Dog, Home Movies, Tom Goes To The Mayor, and Hey! Arnold to name a few.

She has also been seen along side comedians such as Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, John Oliver and Sarah Silverman. Maria has had roles on shows like Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, The Sarah Silverman show. Comic Patton Oswalt has called her one of the most creative and original comics working today.

In addition to the Maria's comedic stylings there is a full night of local spectacle featuring

THE MICHIGAN WOMEN'S FOUNDATION (MWF) has dedicated more than 20 years championing the causes of social justice for women and girls through public and grantee education, philanthropy, and advocacy. The Michigan Women's Foundation seeks to ensure that Women and Girls:

• Become economically self sufficient, and achieve economic justice
• Experience their communities as safe places
• Value and have equal access to education and training
• Address gender discrimination in all forms
• Transform society

The proceeds that were donated to MWF for the evening benefited our signature program, Young Women For Change© (YWFC). YWFC, founded in 1995, consists of young women, ages 14-18, of diverse backgrounds who assess the needs of girls and women in their community. In each YWFC chapter, girls learn about women's issues, create and implement a fundraiser, and grant funding to non-profit organizations working to improve and change the lives of girls and young women in their local communities. The proceeds donated to MWF were allocated to the YWFC chapter for Wayne/Macomb Counties. YWFC granted out funding to Turning Point, a non-profit domestic violence and advocacy organization.
